The Hornby Class 50 My first attempt at a Class 50 was an old Q Kits resin bodied affair. It was a reasonable model but was later replaced by the Lima version. I acquired some detailing parts to upgrade the Lima model, but never fitted them as Hornby announced their super detailed version. So, the model I have is the Hornby version and it is truly superb! It must rate as one of the best RTR diesels produced to date. Well done to Hornby! My version, D421 in corporate blue, is in the condition it was when first leased to British Rail. This is how I remember them at Crewe many years ago.
As far as the various models and kits produced that I know of, we have the Q Kits resin body, the MTK white metal kit. Lima produced an RTR model in 1984 then Hornby.
