Bachmann's revised tooling of a Class 46

The Class 46 was the final development of the 'Peak' locomotives. Built between 1961-1963 and numbered D138 to D193, the 56 locomotives were similar in appearance to the later batch of Class 45's. The main difference was the use of Brush electrical equipment rather than Crompton-Parkinson., They also featured a one piece centre headcode panel, without the centre dividing bar that featured on the later Class 45's. Only one Class 46, D163 (46 026) was named.

My version is the second retooled  Bachmann model. Like the previous Class 44 and 45 models, Bachmann had omitted the prominent nose seam lines and exhaust port on the first release! It is a reasonable model and does run well.

MTK had made a white metal kit of this class.
