Steve Johnson Modelmaker
DS49, Southern Railway 4wPM This locomotive was assembled from an ex-SECR carriage bogie at Exmouth Junction Wagon Repair Depot about 1940 and numbered 49. It was powered by a 40hp Dorman engine and had a somewhat 'shed like' bodywork. It was allocated to Broad Clyst Engineers' Yard for most of its life. It was also seen at Yeovil between 194- and 1949 and later at Folkstone in 1950 for coastal works. It was renumbered by BR to DS49 and was withdrawn in 1959. It was cut up by T. W. Ward, Briton Ferry. |
