23, 24 and 26, 27,  Simplex 4wPM

Following Nos. 14 and 15, the GWR ordered three more Simplex for the Engineering/Signals Dept. that were delivered in 1926. These were numbered 23, 24 and 27. No.23 (w/n 3731) went to Bridgewater, No.24 (w/n 3821)to Taunton and No.27 (w/n 4178)went to Reading.

No.26 was ordered in 1927 (Lot 250, w/n 4178) and was delivered in April 1927, being allocated to Didcot Provender Stores.

These four locomotives were taken out of Capital Stock in December 1928, but did not get their numbers until November 1932. These numbers were painted on, except for No.15 which had a standard plate with the small letters GWR above, similar to the absorbed companies.

Although they were all similar, there were detail differences between them.
